Vision of the Illinois Great Rivers Conference

Vision of the Illinois Great Rivers Conference

All the physically and spiritually hungry people of our world feasting on God's abundant grace at God's table so that they experience God's unconditional love for them, are formed in that love, and are sent to live and share that love with the individuals and institutions of our world.

Mission Statement
of the District Superintendent

The Superintendent's leadership is compelled by the vision/goal of a relationally-rich body of Christian believers in and through whom disciples:

deepen their relationships with Christ, Creation, and fellow

        inhabitants of this planet, and

Invite and lead new disciples into the same relationally-

       rich and redemptive Christian journey.

To this end, the Superintendent will give first priority to relational aspects of the office, maximizing his relationships with local church leaders to strengthen their relationships with God and one another and connect them with resources for discipleship enrichment.

The IGRC Triquetra

Re-Invention of the Illinois Great Rivers Conference structure, a work in progress since June 2005, is expressed with the "triquetra," a symbol composed of three interlocked fish-shapes drawn in one continuous line, marking the intersection of three circles. It is most commonly a symbol of the Holy Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) used by the Celtic Christian Church.

As a symbol of the conference structure it can help us visualize the various leadership areas of our connectional church working together to fulfill the vision and mission of the church.  The Equipping and Connection Team is led by  Connectional Ministries.  The Ministry Empowerment area is led by Finance and Administration and Communication.  The Leadership Summit is a gathering of lay and clergy leaders from around the IGRC meeting quarterly to focus on vision and mission, to build relationships, to learn, and to discern faithful responses to the needs of our local congregations.
