Grand Bassa District of the Liberian Annual Conference is a large county located centrally along the coastline of Liberia.  Grand Bassa County has a population of 159,648 persons and covers 3,382 square miles and is highlighted in green on the map below.  The capital of the county is Buchanan. 

Grand Bassa County, in which the Grand Bassa District of the Liberian United Methodist Church is located, faces many of the same problems faced by people all over Liberia-- economic depression, unemployment, poor roads, absence of electrical and sanitation systems, and limited access to medical facilities, schools, and markets.
